Pre-Tech for Freshmen & Sophomores at BTC

Pre-Tech for Freshmen & Sophomores at BTC

Opening in the Fall of 2017, our new Pre-Tech program at Burlington Technical Center will offer students a unique experience with technology, innovation, engineering and entrepreneurship.

Students will be immersed in project based learning using design basics, rapid prototyping, communication, problem solving and ideation skills.  They will learn how to 3D print, construct robotics, use laser technologies, develop a website or blog, or how to program basic hardware.   Our instructors will lead students through the design thinking process to facilitate projects that solve student identified problems.

The Makerspace lab at Studio B will be our classroom and provide students with a collaborative environment with other students both at BTC and BHS, our community artists in residence, college students and professional speakers.  Students will learn the skills of leadership, entrepreneurship and project management to essentially discover who they are and what unique skills they can add to a team.

This one year program will have embedded science or mathematics credit and elective credit.

Pre-Tech will be offered in a morning and afternoon session.

This class is designed for students interested in engineering, 3D Design, rapid prototyping, design thinking, entrepreneurship, programming, digital media, tinkering and innovation.
