Studio B Development is Underway!
We are excited to have our new maker space studio opening this Fall 2017. Teachers at Burlington Technical Center and Burlington High School will be able to utilize the equipment in our studio for use in project based learning. Some of the highlights of our studio include multiple 3D printers, sewing machines, Arduinos, a laser cutter, a CNC router and vinyl cutters. We will offer an artist’s in residence space to instruct and inspire our students and staff and will host open houses for our projects to be displayed and shared within our making and artist community in Burlington, including Burlington City Arts, Generator and our area colleges.
Studio B will also be offered as a two year tech class to Juniors and Seniors in Fall of 2018. Students will be engaging in problem solving collaborative projects in their first year, while in their second, leading interdisciplinary projects with our other BTC programs and building their own capstone projects.
Our vision over the next three years is that Burlington Technical Center’s classes will mesh projects and share expertise with various technologies enabling students to see the interconnectedness between their core classes of study and to demonstrate the importance of collaboration. We also hope to see our older students using the space to innovate or prototype their own personal ideas as an independent study in the future.
