Last Steel Beam to be Placed in BHS/BTC Building will have Signatures from the Community
Burlington, VT Burlington School District and Whiting-Turner are inviting the community to be a part of history! From now through October 3rd, community members can sign their names on the last steel beam that will be lifted into place.
The beam is located outside Whiting-Turner’s Construction Field Office on the corner of Institute Road and North Avenue. Those interested can access the beam via footpath Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. Visitors should park in the District’s athletics parking lot and travel up the sidewalk to North Avenue before crossing the road to the Field Office entrance. All visitors must sign into the site through a QR code posted on the office entrance.
“This building belongs to all of us,” said BSD Superintendent Flanagan. “So it’s a great feeling to know that we are close to putting the last piece of steel into place on this project, and an even better feeling to know that the community is able to be a part of that process. I hope that many students, families, staff, and community members will take the time to visit the site and put their names on the building. For years to come, people will be able to look at the building and know that their name is inside the building and they were included in this process, and I hope that brings them a sense of joy and of community.”
Flanagan noted that after the community signs the beam, it will be lifted into place during a small ceremony in October.
